L'Ostriconi sits at the mouth of the Ostriconi river on Corsica's northwest coast, where the beach opens directly into the Ligurian Sea. The spot faces northwest, placing it square in the path of the Maestrale — the dominant summer wind that arrives onshore here at 15 to 30 knots. The surrounding landscape is protected nature reserve: no development directly behind the water, just a genuinely wild stretch of sand that feels untouched. The spot is south of Saint-Florent. Access runs through the nature reserve zone, so expect limited facilities at the beach itself. Come self-sufficient — water, supplies, and kite repair basics should travel with you. At the river mouth, the launch area is sandy with room to rig. Where the Ostriconi river meets the sea, conditions near shore can be shallower and choppier than further out — worth walking the beach and reading the water before you set up. Out past that, the Ligurian Sea opens with proper fetch. The Maestrale is onshore on this northwest-facing coast, which means clean launches and landings but no easy escape downwind if things go wrong. The usable wind arc runs 225° to 45° — southwest through north to northeast — but northwest is what you're here for. At 15 knots you're in controlled territory; toward 30 knots this becomes a demanding session with real power across a wide open stretch of water. This is intermediate-to-advanced territory. The remote nature reserve setting, onshore wind, and the range the Maestrale can cover all make it unsuitable for beginners. There is no kite school or on-site rescue in the immediate area — never session alone here. Nearby, restaurants including Café Les Platanes, I Salti, L'Acula Marina Plage, Licciola, Restaurant Le Pavillon, and Vava'u Chez Taté take care of post-session food and drink.
