The bay opens predominantly northward; the Meltemi arrives onshore from the north, building from moderate morning conditions to 20–30 kt by afternoon. Wind ranges 4–8 Beaufort and is side-shore at the northern end, more onshore toward the centre. Shallow and sandy; multiple kite and windsurf schools operate here. Distinct from Pounta beach (south-west coast); Golden Beach is on the east coast. Season June–September.
