Sitting on the east shore at Solto Collina in Località Grè, this spot channels thermal winds off the Alpine valley onto a flat strip of lake water — the kind of setup that has intermediate kiters coming back every summer. The wind story runs twice daily through the peak months. A northerly thermal typically arrives between 07:00 and 10:00 from June through August, running at 18–20 knots during that window. The valley produces this thermal on roughly 75% of summer days — reliably enough to plan your itinerary around it. By around 14:00, the pattern shifts: a southerly thermal fills in at 14–16 knots and carries through the afternoon. If you manage the lull between sessions, two rides in a day is entirely realistic. The usable kite window spans 315° through to 135° — covering the morning northerly and the afternoon southerly without issue. What you ride underneath both is flat, protected lake water. Lago d'Iseo's enclosed geography means no swell and minimal chop. It's honest flat water: it shows up your kite control and edging without throwing unexpected lumps at you. Getting to the launch takes you along the lakeside road through Solto Collina. The foreshore is compact — this is an Alpine lake valley, not a beach resort — so give yourself time to rig cleanly and walk your lines out properly. Rushing a launch on a narrow strip is avoidable with a bit of forethought. Krasto Wake School operates at the spot, which means organised rescue presence on the water if you need it. For riders arriving solo or unfamiliar with the spot, checking in when you get there is a reasonable move. Local facilities are solid for a spot this size. Restaurants within reach include Al guelfo Negher, Barbar Sul Lago, Caffè del porto, and Chiosco Bogn Sunset Bar Restaurant Live Music. If you're staying overnight — which the two-session daily potential makes a worthwhile idea — accommodation options include A-LAGO, Hotel Capovilla, Hotel Continental Lovere, Hotel La Pieve, and Hotel Ristorante Miranda. June through September is the season. July and August are where the thermal reliability peaks; June and September can offer quieter conditions for those with flexibility in their schedule. Outside this window, the valley thermal becomes less dependable. Grè is an intermediate spot. Flat water keeps the learning curve manageable, but the morning northerly at 18–20 knots asks for solid water starts and consistent kite control, and the compact launch makes clean entries and exits matter more than they might on a wider beach. If your basics are dialled, this is an excellent seasonal spot with a dependable wind pattern and a relaxed Italian lake-town atmosphere.
