Wide sandy beaches here are typically backed by Mediterranean scrub and pinewoods, and the coast faces west across open water, giving it a more natural feel than busier Tuscan resorts further north. Getting here means navigating through the Maremma lowlands. The spot itself has a kite school on site — Kite surf beach — making it one of the more organised kitesurfing locations on this coast. The school is your first port of call for lessons, gear rental, and a current read on conditions before you rig. The usable kite window runs from 180° (south) through west to 0° (north), covering southerly, westerly, and northerly winds across a 180° arc. For a west-facing beach, that arc lines up well with the sea breeze thermal typical of warm Tuscan afternoons: as the land heats up, air draws in off the cooler Tyrrhenian and builds through midday and into the afternoon. The flat coastal Maremma topography means you're looking at a relatively steady thermal rather than wind funnelled by cliffs or headlands — progressive building rather than gusty surges. The water is Tyrrhenian in character: relatively flat inshore by Atlantic standards, with short chop when the wind is properly up. Sandy bottom here typically shelves gradually, which can mean a longer walk at low tide before you reach launching depth — worth checking the tide state before heading down to the water. Beach users are the main thing to manage, particularly in summer when Italian beaches get busy. Keep your launch and landing zone clear of swimmers and give them space.
