About Cap Rhir

Cap Rhir is a prominent headland that marks the northern boundary of the Agadir bay, sitting roughly 15 km northwest of Agadir city. It's not a spot you stumble upon — experienced local riders have kept it mostly to themselves, and once you see the launch conditions you'll understand exactly why. The headland itself is rugged and exposed. Getting your kite in the air means picking your way across a rocky launch area colonised by sea urchins and mussels. Booties aren't optional here — they're essential. Watch every step from the moment you leave solid ground, and make sure your kite is fully powered before you commit to the water. The wind at Cap Rhir runs cross-to-offshore from the northwest, with the usable window sitting between 220° and 340°. That range covers the kite window, but the angle means the wind is pulling you toward open water rather than back to shore. A cross-to-offshore setup leaves no room for hesitation: if something goes wrong out on the water, you need the experience and the rescue plan to handle it. Winter afternoons are the prime window, with December through February bringing the most reliable northwest sea breeze. Outside of that core window, conditions become less consistent. Once you're past the launch, the wave character at Cap Rhir is hollow. This is not a mellow beach break with soft rollers — the Atlantic swell hits the headland with shape and power. That suits experienced wave riders who can hold a clean line and make decisions quickly. It's the kind of break that rewards precision and punishes hesitation.
