That reef is the reason this spot delivers: it strips out the Atlantic chop before it reaches the lagoon, leaving a flat, shallow body of water that stays consistent when sections of the island's coastline are rougher. The lagoon lies just north of El Cotillo village on Fuerteventura's northwestern coast. The approach is straightforward — the lagoon and its beach are accessible from the coastal road running north of the village. Launch areas sit on the sandy shore; the spot draws a crowd when conditions are on, so arriving with time to settle in is worth it. Water depth sits around a metre at mid-to-high tide, over a sandy bottom that's forgiving underfoot and during falls.
