Jandia Playa sits at the very southwestern tip of Fuerteventura, where the Jandia peninsula narrows and tapers into the Atlantic. The beach here is long and sandy, running along a coastline that faces broadly southwest — and that orientation explains why this spot works as well as it does for kitesurf. The northeast trade winds that define the Canary Islands blow side-onshore across this southwest-facing shore, delivering a usable kite window that spans from roughly southeast through to west-northwest. The peninsula itself is doing some heavy lifting: it blocks incoming Atlantic swell before it reaches the beach, so the water you're riding is typically flat to choppy rather than messy open-ocean conditions. That's the combination that makes Jandia Playa a good fit for intermediate riders — side-onshore wind plus sheltered, manageable water means you can focus on riding rather than survival. Morro Jable is the main town at the southern end of the island, reached by road down the length of the Jandia peninsula. The beach runs along the resort seafront, which means parking is close and you're not carrying kit across dunes or rough terrain. The setup area is a wide sandy stretch that generally gives you enough room to lay lines without crowding, though this is a resort beach — in the summer months you'll share the sand with tourists, so scan the area carefully before you inflate and pick your moment. Launch is from the sand. The side-onshore wind angle is forgiving in the sense that a lost board or a bad moment tends to drift you toward the beach rather than out to sea. That said, you want to be a confident water-starter before you come here — it's not a beginner's spot, and conditions can be lively enough on stronger days to catch out riders who aren't comfortable in the water. The water itself is mostly flat to choppy, with manageable waves showing up on bigger trade-wind days. It's well-suited to freeriding, freestyle, and working on jump technique. Wave riding is possible but Jandia Playa is not primarily a wave spot. The spot is active year-round, with conditions at their most reliable and powerful from May through September. The resort strip along Morro Jable has you covered for everything off the water. For accommodation, Appartementos Alberto, Appartementos Balper, Appartementos Casablanca, and Hotel La Colina are all in the area. Post-session, El Dorado, Cafeteria San Francisco, La Bodega de Jandia, and Janet, Bar de Musica y Pinchos cover the food side, while Casa Pepe and Estrella del Mar are solid options for a drink. It's a proper resort town — logistics are easy and you won't be hunting for a cold beer after your session.
