The Playa Norte end of Sant Pere Pescador sits at the northern tip of one of Catalonia's most consistent kite beaches — a 6 km stretch of sand lining the Gulf of Roses south of the French border. This section stays noticeably quieter than the centre, where the kite schools cluster, giving you more room to rig up and launch without weaving between beginners and instructors. The main wind engine here is the Tramuntana — a hard northwesterly that rolls off the Pyrenees and blows consistently between November and May in the 20–40 knot range. It's a committed wind that rewards riders who can handle power; on the strongest days, the sheltered lagoon side of the beach offers flat, glassy water as an alternative to the open bay. Come summer, the Garbí takes over: an east-to-southeast sea breeze that typically settles at 12–20 knots. Lighter and warmer, it's easier on the nerves and well-suited to freestyle or learning to link moves without getting thrown around. The usable kite window runs from 90° to 270°, meaning both dominant winds sit comfortably inside it — no awkward cross-offshore angles to manage. The Tramuntana comes in from the northwest, the Garbí from the east-southeast; both put you on a beach launch with open water ahead. Water character follows the wind. Strong Tramuntana days push toward the lagoon side, where the water is flat — good for freeride or foiling. Garbí days bring a bit more texture to the open gulf, but nothing aggressive, and the straight sand gives you a long run to work upwind. All of this makes the spot genuinely usable at all levels: intermediates and up get the most from the Tramuntana window; beginners tend to favour the more measured summer Garbí and the shallower water it comes with. Sessions here are realistic year-round. The Tramuntana keeps winter active when most of the Mediterranean coast goes quiet, and the Garbí carries the summer months through. The north section's lower density is one of its main practical advantages — you're away from the school traffic, and you can still walk back to the Beach Club or Chiringuito Che for a drink when the wind drops. One thing to keep in mind: the wider Sant Pere Pescador beach pulls a big crowd on high-wind summer weekends, even up here at the north end. Take your time when launching and landing — know where everyone else is before you commit.
