The approach takes you toward the Agüimes area on the east coast; parking is accessible close to the beach. The beach is sandy but scattered with rocks, so walk the shoreline before you rig and pick a clean launch corridor. Timing matters: the beach opens up around low tide, the rocky patches become easier to read, and the wave lines break more predictably. At high tide the usable sand narrows and conditions become harder to manage. Wind at Vargas is N-NE trade, blowing cross-onshore across the east-facing coast. It runs more than 300 days a year — this is not occasional, it is structural. The usable window spans from 315° around through north and northeast to 135°, covering the full trade-wind cycle. Cross-onshore is the ideal angle for kiting: it keeps you tracking upwind naturally and puts the beach behind you as a safety margin. If the wind backs toward the north or clocks toward the east, it stays inside the window. On the water you get a mix: open flat sections suited to freeride and freestyle, and wave lines that reward knowing the tide cycle. The surf is most consistent and readable at lower tide. The surrounding protected natural area keeps development minimal and the beach quieter than the island's busier coastlines — you are sharing space with the landscape rather than a row of beach bars. All levels can use this beach, but moderate currents mean it is not a spot for unsupervised beginners. Intermediates and above will find it rewards reading the water carefully before committing to longer runs. Give yourself a session to understand how the currents move before pushing the boundaries of your riding area. There is no kite rental or school noted at this spot, so arrive fully equipped.
