Çayır Beach sits on the northern shore of Bozcaada — a compact Turkish island at the entrance to the Dardanelles, where the northern Aegean narrows toward the Marmara. Reaching the island requires a ferry from the mainland, and that crossing defines the rhythm of any kite trip here: check the sailing schedule before you plan your session, not after. The beach faces north and its character comes directly from the dominant wind arc: 337° to 67°. When northerly to north-easterly wind arrives, you get open Aegean fetch directly in front of you — real sea state, with chop and swell rather than the flat water you would find in a sheltered bay. Çayır is an open-coast experience, suited to riders who are comfortable working with ocean conditions rather than chasing glass. The launch area is a sandy beach that opens cleanly to the north. Provided the wind is well inside the 337°–67° window, getting in and out is manageable — but the edges of that arc deserve respect. Move meaningfully outside it and your angles back to shore change quickly. In gusty or shifting conditions that can turn a comfortable session into a difficult one fast. Assess direction carefully before you launch, and if it is borderline, wait. Once out, the riding space is expansive. The open bay gives you room and the northerly direction puts the downwind run toward more manageable angles. In stronger conditions the chop builds and can be relentless — board choice matters here. Something with enough rocker and volume to handle ocean swell will serve you better than a flat, fast twin-tip when the sea is up. The nearest place to stay is Bozcaada Çayır Bağ Evi, approximately 766 metres from the beach — the practical first choice for anyone who wants to be close to the water. Hotel Kaikias, e2 Deniz Otel Bozcaada, Bozcaoda, and Bozcaada Camping are 4–4.5 km further toward the main settlement. For food after a session, Maya Bozcaada is the closest option at roughly 2 km. Aya Yorgi Restaurant, L'ancora Bozcaada, İda Restaurant, and Bozca9 Restoran are all within 4–4.5 km toward town. Kite infrastructure on a small island like Bozcaada is likely limited — do not expect a kite school, rental operation, or repair service at the beach. Bring everything from the mainland. That is the trade-off for a spot with genuine character: uncrowded water, an unhurried pace, and a setting that rewards riders who plan ahead.
