About Khe Ga · Ham Tan

Khe Ga is a remote southeast-facing bay in Bình Thuận province, a solid drive south of Mũi Né, with the historic Ke Ga Lighthouse rising from the rocky headland that defines the bay's southern edge. Off the tourist trail and with no kite infrastructure in sight, this is a spot for riders who can look after themselves. The NE monsoon is what brings kiters here. From November through March, northeast winds push through at a consistent 15–25 knots, and the bay's southeast orientation turns them into side-onshore conditions — clean, with a real upwind buffer. The usable kite window spans 65° through 205°, covering the core monsoon direction and giving comfortable margin either side. There is no commercial kite setup here: no school, no rental, no safety boat. You arrive fully equipped with your own gear, your own skills, and your own plan. The approach runs via provincial roads that get quieter as you leave the main coastal route behind. The bay has developed modestly as a resort destination, so there are places to stay and eat nearby — the infrastructure is just not kite-specific. The launch area demands a thorough scout on arrival. The jagged rock outcrops around the headland are the defining hazard. Before you rig, walk the shoreline and establish exactly where the rocks sit and what your downwind escape route looks like. In stronger conditions with a kite failure or equipment problem, proximity to those outcrops is a genuinely serious situation. This is not a spot to work out your safety margins as you go. Water character in peak season tends toward chop rather than flat water, with wind-driven texture from the northeast fetch. It's enough to keep freeriders engaged without being a dedicated wave spot. A twintip handles conditions comfortably; a directional adds options if the swell organises. The crowds — or the near-total absence of them — are a genuine reason to make the journey. Khe Ga sits well clear of the circuit that Mũi Né kiters run, and sharing the water with more than a handful of riders on any given day would be unusual. The lighthouse backdrop, the raw headland, uncrowded water, and consistent monsoon wind add up to a legitimate adventure for riders who want something beyond the established spots. Minimum skill level: intermediate to advanced. Solo self-rescue, independent launch and land, and clear-headed awareness near rocky obstacles are prerequisites here, not nice-to-haves.
