About Ninh Chu Bay

Ninh Chu Bay is a crescent-shaped bay on the coast of Ninh Thuận province in southern Vietnam, positioned roughly 15 kilometres south-west of My Hoa Lagoon. Between November and March, the northeast Amihan wind sweeps cross-onshore across the bay at 18 to 25 knots, giving this spot a reliable seasonal window that suits kiters looking for consistent pressure. The water character is open and honest: deep water starts close to shore with only a slight shore break standing between the beach and clean sailing. That early depth keeps the chop down and conditions manageable. The wind arc runs from 40° through to 190°, placing the Amihan in a genuinely cross-onshore window — enough angle to stay upwind comfortably and recover from a mistake without washing into the beach. Three riding styles work well here. Freeride is the natural call — the bay is wide, the Amihan delivers steady pressure, and there is space to carry speed across long arcing runs. Freestyle works on the flatter, sheltered sections inside the bay where the surface is cleaner. Wave riding is an option when swell is running, though conditions on the outer water can be more demanding and reward careful assessment before committing. The shore break is the main thing to manage. Slight does not mean ignorable: a poor launch in any shore break creates problems, and this one is no exception. Pick a clean moment between sets, take time over setup, and have a helper on the lines if possible. Walk the beach before you rig to get a read on how conditions are running along the arc.
