About Chernomorec

Chernomorets sits on a small cape along Bulgaria's southern Black Sea coast, between Burgas to the north and Sozopol just a few kilometres to the south. The town is compact — a quiet village that has built a steady reputation as a kite destination for riders working their way along this stretch of Bulgarian shore. The usable wind window runs from north-northeast through to east-southeast (23°–113°), with NE and E as the two dominant directions. When the wind arrives from that arc, it comes off the Black Sea with a reasonable fetch behind it and the water chops up predictably — nothing radical, but the kind of conditions that reward controlled riding over unrestrained freestyle. Approach is straightforward. The town is reachable by car from Burgas via the coastal road south, and small enough that finding the beach requires no navigation. Parking is available in town. The launch itself is a sandy beach, and setup space varies with the season — summer tourist traffic fills the shore, so earlier sessions give you more room to lay out lines without pedestrian interruptions. Water character is typical of a semi-enclosed sea: flatter and less swelly than ocean spots, with short-period chop when the wind establishes. Depths are shallow near shore — know your downwind drift and your exit route before you push upwind. Two kite schools operate here: KITE-DOCTOR and Kite&Surf Park. When two schools can sustain themselves at the same beach, that is a reasonable indicator of consistent wind on offer. If you are arriving without gear or want a local read on conditions, either school is a sensible first stop. Accommodation runs from Atia Resort and Hotel Chernomorets to Camping Chernomorets and Camping Sozopol Eco for those travelling on a tighter budget. Post-session eating options include Bar & Dinner Рибката, Cono del mar, Kohi Kohi, and Masarro beach — a solid spread for a small seaside town. This spot suits intermediates and above who are comfortable reading conditions in a relatively enclosed sea environment. The NE/E arc delivers sessions when it fires, but it is not an all-conditions guarantee — when the wind swings outside that window, pack it in and explore the nearby coastline. Approach with flexibility and realistic expectations and Chernomorets can anchor a productive kite week on the Bulgarian Black Sea.
