Rabbit Island — known locally as Koh Tonsay — sits in the Gulf of Thailand roughly 20 minutes by boat from the coastal town of Kep in southern Cambodia. It's a small, quiet island with a southeast-facing beach that catches two distinct seasonal wind windows: the southwest to south winds that push through from May to September, arriving side-shore on the SE beach, and the northeast winds of November through March that also put in a workable angle for that beach orientation. Flat, warm water and a genuine absence of crowds complete the picture. Getting here is half the session. There's no road access — you're taking a boat from Kep with your gear, which means logistics front-load the day. Leave a spare part or a line behind and you're managing without on an island that has no kite shop. The launch is the beach itself, facing southeast, with the side-shore SW–S summer wind giving you a clean run in both directions. The kite arc of 45°–225° covers both seasonal windows comfortably without the wind ducking behind obstacles at either end. The water is flat and warm — the Gulf of Thailand's sheltered character keeps swell and significant chop away during the main season windows. That makes Rabbit Island a genuine option for intermediate riders wanting space to build confidence away from the chaos of busier beaches, or for experienced kiters who simply want a quiet session in uncrowded water. The riding is uncomplicated: flat water, a clear side-shore angle through the SW–S season, and very few other people anywhere near the kite window. The flip side of the remoteness is the infrastructure gap. No kite schools, no equipment rental, and no dedicated rescue service are listed for this spot.
