Santa Giulia sits tucked into a sheltered turquoise bay on the southeastern tip of Corsica, a short drive south of Porto-Vecchio. The bay faces roughly ESE, opening out toward the Tyrrhenian Sea, and the water inside genuinely earns its postcard reputation — shallow, almost impossibly clear, and a deep blue-green that shifts to pale turquoise in the shallows. It's a beautiful spot, and it works well for kiting. The approach is straightforward from Porto-Vecchio: follow the coastal road south and the bay signage will get you there. Parking sits close to the beach, though expect competition for spaces in summer when Santa Giulia becomes a busy family destination. Arrive early if you want a stress-free setup. The launch is from a long sandy beach. The bay is well-protected, and the flat, shallow water inside makes this one of Corsica's more forgiving spots — the kind of place where a kite school setting up shop makes obvious sense, and indeed there's one on site. If you're travelling without gear, Jet Loc Santa Giulia handles rentals. The usable kite window runs from 20° to 200°, covering winds from NNE through south to SSW. The main working wind is the SE-E Levante, which arrives onshore and pushes into the bay to deliver the flat, manageable conditions the spot is known for. That shallow, glassy water inside the lagoon is ideal for beginners and intermediates who want to build skills without dealing with serious chop. Wind discipline matters here. When the wind swings to NE or NW, you're in offshore territory — it can look light and deceptively calm on the beach while the real picture builds out over the water. Check the forecast carefully and don't push it in offshore conditions, particularly if your self-rescue game isn't solid. In summer, the bay sees significant beach traffic — swimmers, paddleboards, families with young children. The kite zone shares that space, so stay sharp on your downwind path and respect any marked swimming areas. The shallow bottom inside the bay is forgiving for falls but worth noting at lower tides. After your session, options are plentiful. A Fiesta, A Piazetta, Bar Plage, Køstën plage, Les Deux 3, Ondella, Santa Marina, and U Fiesta Marina all front the bay — you'll have no trouble finding somewhere to eat and debrief. In summer, the popular spots fill up quickly; if you have a preference, book ahead. Santa Giulia is honest about what it offers: a gorgeous, sheltered lagoon bay that's genuinely accessible for beginners and intermediates, with a kite school, good facilities, and reliable onshore Levante conditions. Experienced riders looking for open-ocean chop won't find it here, but for a clean, scenic session in clear water, it delivers.
