Pinarellu sits in an east-facing lagoon on Corsica's southeastern coastline, roughly 15 kilometres north of Porto-Vecchio. The bay opens directly into the prevailing Levante — the region's classic easterly and north-easterly wind — making this one of those rare spots where the dominant local wind sends you straight onto flat, protected water rather than out to sea. Getting here means driving north from Porto-Vecchio toward Pinarellu village. The beach is a sheltered crescent with a straightforward sandy launch, and the lagoon's shape keeps the water flat even when the wind is properly up. The Levante is the headline act. It blows onshore from the east and northeast, and in summer the thermal cycle builds predictably through the afternoon. The usable wind window runs from the northern quarter through due east and around toward the south — a generous arc that covers the most common directions for this stretch of Corsican coast. When the Levante is in full effect, the onshore angle delivers clean, flat water right where you need it. That water character is the main draw. Flat and sheltered inside the lagoon, Pinarellu is approachable for intermediates building their riding: forgiving conditions, onshore wind for easy water relaunches, and a sandy bottom if you go for an unplanned swim. More experienced riders get the same flat water for clean freeride or foil sessions without the chop you'd find on an exposed coast. Hazards are what you'd expect from a popular Corsican bay in peak season. Watch the edges of the lagoon for shallows, keep clear of swimmers and paddleboarders — the beach draws real summer crowds — and be aware that launch space can get tight in the height of summer. Wind tends to be lighter early in the day before the thermal builds, so if the morning looks patchy, wait it out; conditions often come good by midday or early afternoon. The facilities around Pinarellu are a genuine plus for a spot of this scale. For food you have Chez Fred, La Baie de Pinarello, La fleur de sel, La Source, La csa, Stella Diana, Le Patio and Pizzeria du Rouf all within reach of the beach.
