About Kobuleti

Kobuleti sits on Georgia's Black Sea coast in the Adjara region, about 20 kilometres north of Batumi along a stretch of coastline that trades the city's density for something calmer and more ridable. The beach here is notably longer than what you get in Batumi proper, which matters when you're rigging up and looking for space to launch without dodging sunbeds. The driving force at Kobuleti is a westerly sea breeze that picks up through the summer months, typically running between 10 and 18 knots. That's solidly in the learner-to-intermediate sweet spot — enough power to get going, not so much that you're fighting for your life. The water runs flat to choppy depending on how long the breeze has been building, and with the usable kite window covering winds from south through west to north (180°–359°), you've got reasonable flexibility across different days. The beach itself is sandy and the launch is straightforward — flat shore, gradual entry, no technical complications. Keep standard beach-launch discipline: check for swimmers, mark your spot, and be aware that the crowd builds as summer peaks. It's less congested than Batumi, but this is still a resort beach come July and August. Getting there from Batumi is easy — about 20 kilometres north by road, a short drive or local transport ride. There is no dedicated kite infrastructure here; Kobuleti is a resort town first, kite spot second. You bring your own gear and read the beach on arrival. For food and accommodation, the resort strip covers the basics well. Cafe Bar Mari Kobuleti has a seaside terrace, making it the natural end-of-session stop for something cold. Adjarian House, Flamingo, and Bazi are local restaurant options, while Goodfood and Americana handle the café and bar angle. If you're staying over, Bamboo Garden Hotel Kobuleti, Compass Hotel, GB Hotel, and Hotel Homey are all in the resort area. The riding season runs June through September. July and August bring the most consistent sea breeze, but also the most beach traffic. June and September are worth considering if you want the same wind window with fewer swimmers sharing your launch corridor. Outside summer, conditions here do not favour kiting. Skill-wise, Kobuleti is honest beginner-to-intermediate territory. The flat water and moderate sea breeze are forgiving for riders still building water starts and transitions. Advanced riders after waves or strong thermals should look elsewhere on the Georgian coast — but for a clean, uncomplicated session in a pleasant resort town near Batumi, Kobuleti delivers.
