The main kitesurf beach on Santorini (Thera), located on the northeast coast 2 km east of the international airport. The 1 km black-sand beach faces northeast; the Meltemi arrives from the west-northwest, producing side-onshore conditions and pushing small to medium waves into the bay. A concrete mole on the southern end creates a flat-water zone on the leeward side. Wind builds from late morning to 15–20 kt and can hold steady for more than a week at a time in July–August. Santorini Kite school operates on the beach. Suitable for all levels in mild conditions; intermediate-advanced in full Meltemi. Season May–September.

With its redesigned apron, as of 2021 the airport is able to serve up to nine civilian airliners at the same time. Santorini is one of the few Cyclades Islands with a major airport.
