Ekas Bay sits on the southeastern tip of Lombok, a broad sheltered inlet that has quietly built a reputation as one of Indonesia's best flat-water kite destinations. The bay's geography does the heavy lifting: the southeast trade wind blows straight into the bay mouth, but the protected interior keeps the water remarkably flat — think lagoon-style riding rather than ocean chop. That combination of reliable wind and calm water is what brings kiters back. The spot is in southeastern Lombok, reachable by road from the island's main centres. The approach brings you down to a coastal stretch where the bay opens up, and the launch is a beach with enough space to rig without too much drama. Multiple kite schools operate here year-round, so there's usually an established setup on the beach — handy for reading conditions, getting a launch assist, or sorting a lesson if that's what you need. On the water, Ekas delivers. The SE trade runs at 130–155° and through peak season — June to September — you can expect 18–30 knots of consistent breeze blowing into the bay.
