Kaliantan Beach sits on the southeastern coast of Lombok, tucked into a bay where the East Lombok shoreline opens toward the waters between the island and Sumbawa. The beach faces southeast, which puts it squarely in the path of the dry season trade winds that push through from May to October — a window that delivers consistent, reliable conditions the spot is quietly known for among riders who bother to make the trip. Getting here takes commitment. Kaliantan is on the far side of Lombok from the main tourist corridor, and the remoteness is real. That same remoteness is what keeps the crowds thin. On a solid wind day, you're unlikely to be sharing the launch with more than a handful of other riders — a genuine rarity in Indonesian kite travel. The spot has two distinct characters. Inside the lagoon, shallow water spreads out in a broad, forgiving expanse — calm enough for beginners to find their feet without the stress of surf or heavy boat traffic. Conditions typically run 15–25 knots, covering freeride and wave riding, with the stronger days pushing toward the upper end. The wind tends toward steady rather than gusty, which makes planning a session easier than at more turbulent spots. The beach itself is genuinely undeveloped by Lombok standards — fewer facilities, fewer services, fewer people.
