Gerupuk Bay sits on the southeast coast of Lombok, tucked near the small fishing village of Gerupuk. The bay's enclosed shape does most of the work — southeast trade winds funnel in from May through October, arriving clean and consistent, typically in the 15–25 knot range. The inner lagoon, sheltered from open-ocean swell, stays flat more often than not, which makes this one of those rare spots where beginners can genuinely learn and freestylers can properly send it without worrying about chop eating their landings. Getting here puts you on Lombok's southeast coast, with Gerupuk village as your landmark. The bay is not a walk-up situation — there is no beach you stride onto and launch from directly. Access to the riding zones runs by local boat shuttle, and the service is well-established. You book a ride, get dropped at your spot, and the boat stays nearby to retrieve you when you're done. It's a different rhythm than a standard beach launch, but once you're in it, the system moves efficiently and the local crews understand what kiters need. The inner lagoon is the headline act. Flat, genuinely sheltered, and powered by channelled easterly and SE winds across a usable arc from 55° through 215°. The bay's shape concentrates the breeze, and conditions within the season window are generally consistent — though as with any enclosed bay, the land influences how the wind arrives on any given day, so expect some variation. On the water, twin-tip riders get the most from the flat surface.
