Capo Mannu sits at the exposed tip of the Sinis peninsula on Sardinia's west coast — a rocky headland that catches open Mediterranean swell and the full force of the Mistral wind. Among kite wave spots in the Mediterranean, it has a genuine reputation, drawing experienced riders who know what they're looking for and have the skills to handle it. The approach is straightforward. Drive to Putzu Idu, the small village about 1 km south of the cape. That's where you rig up, launch, and leave the car. The village gives you a more sheltered spot to prepare compared to the exposed headland itself, and facilities are close at hand when you're done. The wind that defines Capo Mannu is the Mistral — a northwest wind that arrives side-shore along the coast here. The usable window runs a wide arc from southerly through north, covering west and northwest, so the spot can work across several wind directions. But it's the Mistral that gives it its character: when it blows, it tends to be strong and sustained, building proper wave conditions at the cape. This is a wave spot first, and that shapes everything about a session here. Rocky conditions and real power in the water mean you need a solid base before you commit. The hazards are the rocks — not just at the entry and exit, but throughout. Strong body drag skills, reliable self-rescue, and genuine wave riding experience are the entry price. If you're still building toward that level, Capo Mannu will still be here when you're ready; don't rush it. For those with the skills, the reward is a side-shore Mistral angle that sets up proper wave riding at the headland, and a spot that performs when much of the Mediterranean goes flat. It's the kind of session people travel specifically for. Putzu Idu has enough to keep you comfortable between sessions. Capo Mannu Surf Cabana House is 100 metres from the sea — the obvious pick for kiting accommodation. Agriturismo Zenti Arrubia, Bed and Breakfast Marigosa, Hotel Maluentu, and Hotel Raffael give you further options in the area. For food and drinks, Baia Blu, Bar ristorante Barracuda beach, Green Wave, and Il Pescatore Ittiturismo are all within reach of the water. The Sinis peninsula is quieter than much of Sardinia — rural roads, a slower pace, a genuine local fishing culture. That suits the spot and the crowd it draws. Come with the right kit for waves and rocky water, check your self-rescue before you get in, and give yourself time to read the conditions before committing to the cape.
