Imourane Beach sits on Morocco's Atlantic coast a short drive south of Agadir, just outside the town of Imourane in the Souss-Massa region. The shore faces west to southwest into the open Atlantic, catching the NW thermal winds that build reliably through the afternoon hours between March and October. By the standards of Morocco's kite coast, Imourane is a calm, approachable spot — which is precisely why the kite schools based out of Agadir use it as a training ground for beginners. Getting here is uncomplicated. The beach has easy access from the N1 highway — no complicated backroads or hidden turnoffs involved. Once you arrive, you're dealing with a sandy beach: no rocky obstacles underfoot at the launch, which makes rigging and self-landing considerably more straightforward than at rougher spots. The usable wind arc runs from 175° to 355°, meaning south through north-northwest covers the workable window for this west-to-southwest-facing shore. When the afternoon NW thermal fills in, you get a side-to-side-onshore angle that suits the beach's orientation well. Winds typically sit in the 10–20 knot range during the core season — enough for solid sessions without the overpowering conditions that can rattle newer riders on days when spots further north go hard. The water is open Atlantic. Expect some swell and chop once the thermal builds, more manageable close to shore early in the session before the wind fully establishes. It's honest open-ocean exposure — not a protected lagoon — so treat it accordingly even when conditions look calm. For skill level, this is probably the most beginner-accessible stretch in the immediate Agadir area. Two kite schools operate nearby — AtlanticsurfPoint surf and kitesurf Agadir and M-MOVE Surf, Kitesurf, Wingfoil Agadir — so if you want instruction or a supervised first session, the infrastructure is there. Intermediate riders will find enough to work with during the heart of the season; advanced riders chasing challenging conditions will likely find Imourane a bit tame. Post-session, there's no shortage of places to sit down. Cafe Arige, Cafe Dubai, Cafe Souss, Anwal, Du nour, and France are among the local cafes nearby. For something more substantial, Café Restaurant Mç Tabia and Coopérative Tibourk de Valorisation de Couscous both serve proper food — the cooperative being a local Moroccan spot worth trying if you want something regional. One honest caveat: Imourane runs on thermal wind, not consistent trade winds. Outside March–October, conditions lighten up and become less reliable. Even inside the season, mornings can be flat. Plan your sessions for the afternoon and you're much more likely to find what you came for.
