About Legzira Beach

Legzira Beach sits on Morocco's Atlantic coast roughly 5 km north of Sidi Ifni, in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region. The spot is defined by its dramatic red-sandstone cliffs and the natural arches that frame the beach — one of those arches collapsed in 2016, but the remaining formations still create a striking backdrop. The beach faces west, which sets it up well for the NE Alizé trade wind that arrives side-onshore through the spring and summer months. Sidi Ifni, roughly 5 km to the south, is your nearest base for logistics and supplies. The beach itself is a long sandy stretch with plenty of room to rig and launch. This is an uncrowded spot by Moroccan Atlantic standards — you are unlikely to be competing for launch windows or downwind space. The launch area is the main sandy beach, which gives you room to work with as the tide shifts. Tide awareness matters here: the beach narrows near the rock formations at high tide, reducing your usable area close to the arches. Plan to launch from the main stretch well clear of the formations, and you will have open water ahead of you. The NE Alizé trade wind is the engine here, arriving side-onshore on this west-facing coast. The usable kite window runs 180° to 359°, covering south through west through north, so the spot stays workable across a range of directions. The most consistent period runs April through September, with the trade wind building reliability as the season develops. March and October can deliver sessions but with less predictability. This is open Atlantic coast, not a sheltered bay. Expect rolling ocean swell, which rewards wave riders and raises the bar for anyone still building water confidence. The rock arches are visually spectacular but structurally real: stay well clear while riding, especially at mid to high tide when the beach narrows near the formations and the margin for error shrinks. Facilities on the ground are accommodation-focused: Anar Surf Camp, Legzira Cactus Beach House, Nomadic Beach Camp, and Urbanizaciones playa Legzira Beach are all in the area. There is no kite school or equipment rental on site, so arrive fully equipped and self-sufficient. Sidi Ifni covers the basics for food and resupply. Legzira suits intermediate to advanced riders who are comfortable managing their own launch and self-rescue in open Atlantic conditions. The uncrowded beach and reliable Alizé window make it a worthwhile destination for those prepared for it.
