Tibiao sits on Antique's west-facing coastline in the Western Visayas, a province that most Philippine kitesurfers skip in favour of its famous neighbour to the north. That oversight is exactly what makes it worth knowing. When the Habagat season runs from around June through September, the prevailing south-to-southwest winds fill in across open water and arrive at this stretch of beach with a clean side-on to onshore angle. The shore faces due west, and the wind arc covers everything from south through west to north—meaning the typical Habagat direction slots comfortably into the usable window. Consistent Habagat winds in the 15–25 knot range give intermediates and above enough to work with; the lower end suits a bigger kite while the top end adds real energy to the water and chop to the surface. Getting to the spot means routing through Tibiao town, a small municipality on the Antique coast. From there the beach is accessible and the setting is noticeably quieter than the busy kite beaches elsewhere in the region—no crowds, no gear tangling with a dozen other riders at the water's edge. The beach is sandy with sections of reef, so reef boots for entry and exit are a sensible call. Before you rig up, take a walk along the waterline to identify where the reef patches run. Local knowledge here is valuable, and there is no kite school on-site to provide orientation. That point is worth stating plainly: Tibiao has no dedicated kite infrastructure. No schools, no instructors, no rental gear, no repair services. The on-the-water side of things is entirely self-supported, so arrive with spares and sort any equipment concerns before leaving your base town. Food options nearby include Archa's Resto Bar, J&P Eatery, KitKat's Pizza, and VAMS—a workable set of local restaurants for fuelling up before a session or winding down after. On stronger days the exposed west-facing position can generate real chop, so read the forecast carefully and allow some margin on kite size until you know how the spot behaves. The open water fetch means the wind typically arrives clean and consistent once it fills, which is one of the better qualities of a coast with this orientation. For riders already in the Western Visayas, Tibiao makes a legitimate case as a quieter complement to the busier kite destinations in the Philippines. The combination of reliable seasonal wind and genuinely uncrowded water is uncommon enough that in peak Habagat it can be a very good spot.
