About Adelka Beach (Urla North)

Adelka Beach sits in a small sandy cove on the Aegean coast of İzmir province, roughly 3 km north of Gülbahçe. It's the quieter sibling of the main Urla kite beach — less traffic, same reliable summer Meltemi, and a lagoon that earns its reputation among riders who know the area. Getting there takes a little commitment. The turn-off from the İzmir–Çeşme highway leads onto a dirt track down to the cove, so a car with some clearance is useful. Parking is informal at the beach itself. The launch is straightforward — sandy beach, shallow water close in, and a wide open kite zone ahead. The sandy bottom stays shallow well into the lagoon, which makes this spot genuinely beginner-friendly. The flat, absolutely shallow water means you can work on upwind riding or early jumps without worrying about depth underfoot. Wind arrives from the N-NW as the summer Meltemi, hitting the beach side-onshore. The usable arc runs 225° through to 45°, giving a solid cross-shore angle that suits both riding and water relaunches. The cove's sheltered position from the southwest also keeps chop down compared to more exposed Aegean spots. One useful local detail: when the wind at the main Urla or TK beach backs westward and turns gusty, Adelka tends to stay cleaner. Locals treat it as a reliable fallback in those conditions. That said, the west component can still bring gusty patches here too — watch for shifts during the afternoon sea breeze cycle. The lagoon is the headline feature. Flat and shallow, it suits free-riding and freestyle sessions well. Just upwind of the lagoon the water opens up cleanly for foiling. Intermediate riders will appreciate the consistent cross-shore angle and forgiving surface. Beginners get genuinely shallow, flat water with a school right on the sand. The facility setup is unusually strong for a spot this size. Urla Surf House, a small beach hotel with a direct view over the kite zone, runs a school on the beach. Kite Provo and Kiteboarding Lessons & Camps also operate in the area. Notably, the zone reportedly hosts the only kiteboarding-specific wakepark in Europe — worth a session when the wind drops. SUP boards are available for a calmer explore of the river or a nearby island. For food, An Urla Restaurant, Denizaltı Cafe, Marika Restaurant & Beach, and Vera Urla Restaurant are all within reach. Accommodation options include Urla Surf House on the beach itself, with further options in the broader Urla area. Season runs June through September, tracking the regional Meltemi pattern. July and August are typically the most consistent, with afternoon winds building reliably. Shoulder months can be lighter — worth checking before committing to that dirt track drive.
