Long, exposed bay on the Datça peninsula facing the Cyclades to the north-west; considered one of the finest freeride kite arenas on the Turkish coast. The Meltemi blows north-to-northwest, arriving cross-offshore and turning the entire 4 km bay into a flat-water freeride stage. Wind typically intensifies from noon to mid-afternoon, regularly reaching 25 kt. The north-coast "Karaköy" section offers cross-on conditions as an alternative. Season May–September; very warm, clear Mediterranean water.
Datça is a municipality and district of Muğla Province, Turkey. Its area is 436 km2, and its population is 25,029 (2022). The town center is situated midway through the peninsula which carries the same name as the district and the town. It was a nahiya of Marmaris District until 1928. Datça's first center in village of Reşadiye till 1947, when it was moved to present borough of İskele.
