About Guajiru

Guajiru sits on the Ceará coastline as a small fishing village, roughly 6 kilometres from Flecheiras in the municipality of Trairi. The beach retains an unhurried, local feel — fewer kite schools per square metre, fewer learners in the water, and the kind of quiet that makes it easy to focus on the riding. It anchors one end of the Flecheiras–Guajiru downwind corridor, which means you can drop into a session here and finish up the coast, or reverse the run depending on conditions. The wind arrives from the east, side-onshore, and typically runs between 15 and 25 knots. That direction is almost ideal for a beach launch: you get a clean window to power up without the full force hitting you head-on, and downwind drift carries you along the shore rather than straight out to sea. The usable kite window spans 295° to 75°, which on this stretch of coast translates to reliable, consistent pressure rather than the gusty cross-shore angles that make some spots feel like a lottery. Water character varies with the tide. At low tide, the tidal flats open up and give you genuinely flat water — the kind that rewards intermediate riders working on their technique or beginners building confidence without swell to worry about. As the tide fills in, small chop develops, but conditions stay manageable for most levels. The spot suits intermediates particularly well, with enough variety to keep more experienced riders engaged, especially if they're planning the downwind run toward Flecheiras. Getting here takes some commitment. From Fortaleza, you're heading down the coast on roads that get smaller as you approach Trairi municipality. This is still a fishing village, so arrive prepared — there's no big kite resort infrastructure on site. Parking near the beach is generally possible; ask locally about the best spots. On facilities, the area has developed a solid if compact kite scene. Clube da Prancha, DK Surf e Kite, Guajiru Kite Center, and Hotel Ava (which operates as Kite Surf Brasil, Kite Guajiru, and Kite Ceará) all cover lessons and gear support. For food after a session, Guajiru com Pimenta and Guajiru Del Mar are the local choices; Marítimo Restaurante in nearby Flecheiras is worth the short ride too. Accommodation options include Dayo Hotel, Casa Mar Flecheiras, and Pousada Janelas do Mar — most cater to the kite crowd and will know what conditions did that day. The downwind corridor is the standout reason to be here. Guajiru to Flecheiras is a natural run once you're comfortable with the wind direction — the kind of session that uses the coast properly rather than lapping the same patch of water.
