About Lozenets Beach

Lozenets Beach sits in a sheltered bay on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast, south of the village of Lozenets near Tsarevo in Burgas Province. It's not a destination that announces itself loudly — which is part of what makes it work. The bay offers a calm, manageable setup that suits intermediate riders looking for consistent Black Sea conditions without the noise of Bulgaria's more heavily trafficked resort beaches. Getting here means heading toward Lozenets village, which is a small settlement close to Tsarevo. A GPS is your best friend; signage in this part of the coast is limited. Parking near the beach is generally uncomplicated — the village doesn't pull the kind of summer crowds that gridlock the larger resorts to the north. The launch is a sandy entry and the water stays shallow for a useful distance from shore. That shallowness earns its keep when you're rigging up, wading out, or body-dragging back in after a swim — you can stand and sort yourself out without the bottom disappearing underfoot. The sandy bed is forgiving, which matters when you're practising transitions or clawing back upwind. Wind here runs predominantly NE and E, typically in the 12–22 knot range through the season. The usable kite window covers 0° through 180°, so northerly, easterly and southerly winds all put you in a workable arc. Under moderate NE and E conditions the water holds flat to choppy with small, manageable waves — a reasonable environment for working on technique rather than pure damage limitation. When the NE pushes toward the stronger end of its range the wave height builds and the chop becomes more demanding. Still rideable for intermediates comfortable in moving water, but the session shifts from cruisy to committed fairly quickly. This is not a beginner spot. You want a solid relaunch, a reliable self-rescue and comfortable downwind exits before you session here. Intermediates who are at ease in 15–20 knots with some chop will find it genuinely satisfying; less experienced riders should look for flatter, calmer water to build their skills first. The season runs May through October. The shoulder months — May, June and September, October — tend to be quieter on the beach and can offer pleasant, less crowded conditions. The Black Sea warms up considerably through midsummer, making full wetsuits unnecessary for most of the season. No facilities are on record for this spot. Come entirely self-sufficient: top up fuel, water and food in Tsarevo or Lozenets village before heading to the beach. There is no kite school or rental operation listed here, so bring your own gear and make sure it's in good order before you arrive. The trade-off is a quiet, uncrowded stretch of water — worth it if you're prepared.
