About Solenzara

Solenzara beach runs for roughly 1.6 kilometres along Corsica's east coast, starting just north of the marina. It's a long sandy beach, open to the full fetch of the Tyrrhenian Sea and reliably visited by the Levante — the northeast and east wind that defines kiting on this side of the island. The town is a small coastal resort, easy enough to navigate. The marina marks your reference point when you arrive, with the kite beach stretching northward from there. The sandy foreshore gives you comfortable space to rig, and with 1.6 km to choose from you can usually find a spot away from the crowd. The usable kite window runs from 340° (just west of north) through to 160° (SSE), putting the full NNE–SE arc in your favour as onshore or side-onshore conditions. The Levante — blowing from the NE and E — is the headline act. When it arrives, it delivers consistent side-onshore conditions that work well for freeride laps up and down the beach. If there's swell running from the north or east, the same wind creates a wave session instead, shifting the character of the spot considerably depending on what the sea is doing. Close in, conditions are typically manageable for intermediates in clean Levante. Further out, chop builds with any strength, and when swell is present the wave zone demands more experience. A side-onshore direction gives you a useful safety margin — a body-drag back to the beach stays an option if something goes wrong. The hazard to keep front-of-mind is offshore wind. Southwest through west — the Libeccio — blows directly off the beach and out to open sea. A strong Libeccio can look deceptively calm at the waterline while pushing you away from the coast with nothing to stop you. In those conditions, Solenzara is expert-only. If the forecast shows any meaningful SW or W component, have a clear exit plan or consider a different spot. Solenzara suits intermediates and above. The Levante window is welcoming — onshore direction, good beach length, and recoverable if things go sideways. Beginners should ride with instruction, since the offshore risk in unexpected westerlies is real and conditions can build faster than they look from shore. For freeriders and wave riders, the combination of reliable east-coast wind and occasional swell makes it a solid stop on a Corsica trip. Nearby facilities cover the essentials. For accommodation, Camping Côte des Nacres, Les Eucalyptus, Sole d'Oru, and Sole di Sari are all in the area. After a session, A Mandria, La voile rouge, Le Crocodile, Le Galion, and Restaurant du camping handle food and drinks.
