For kiters, it's the kind of spot that rewards experience and has little patience for overconfidence. Getting here takes you to the southernmost point of Puglia, a place where geography directly shapes what you feel on the water. The nearby Apennine mountains disrupt and channel the airflow, meaning forecasts and conditions can diverge. Winds at Leuca have a reputation for being strong and erratic — that unpredictability is both the draw and the warning label. The usable kite window runs from 90° to 210°, so SE, E, and S winds all carry potential. Experienced riders comfortable in gusty, variable windows and capable of reading current shifts will find a spot with serious character. After a session, the village holds its own. Bar del Porto is the natural debrief spot close to the water. Caffè de Finibus Terrae leans into the location's identity as a local landmark worth sitting at. For a proper meal, Hosteria Al Pardo, Bacio di Puglia, and Boccaccio are all solid options; Gnam and Pocca Puccia work if you want something more casual. Caffetteria Martinucci and Caffè Redentore handle coffee duties before or after rigging, and Lido Alba Chiara rounds out the café options near the water. This spot is for experienced to expert riders only. Erratic winds, powerful currents, compact launch space, and limited bail-out options make it genuinely unsuitable for beginners or early intermediates.
